1. The modern backpack for everyday life and leisure

In the past, when you thought of a backpack, the first things that came to mind were the classic School Backpacks or the bulky trekking backpacks. But times have changed: backpacks are more modern and fashionable than ever. From sporty to playful to minimalist – the variety of backpack designs leaves nothing to be desired. Your companion adapts to the needs for every occasion and every age.

2. The right companion for every event

The large number of different backpacks results from the variety of potential uses. The functionality of backpacks is especially convincing in the leisure sector: for shopping, sports, city trips, cycling, hiking, or a typical Sunday walk. Which backpack Size is particularly suitable for your plan?
 

• Shopping: For the walk or ride to go shopping, we recommend a backpack with at least 15 liters of volume. A small to medium-sized shopping trip can be easily stored this way. The backpack is perfect for riding your bike to the nearest store. A little tip: pack a foldable bag in your backpack. If it turns out to be a bigger shopping trip, you can carry everything without any problems.
   
• Sports: A typical sports backpack is characterized by its storage space with optimal compactness. A sports backpack has many compartments for different items. Some have an extra outer pocket for the water bottle or compression straps for optimal weight distribution. For going to sports, we recommend sizes starting at 20 liters of volume. This way, sports shoes, a towel, and change of clothes fit comfortably. 
   
• City Trip: Are you looking forward to a city trip with your family or best friend? Then it's best to choose a backpack with a capacity of 10 to 15 liters. Here’s our tip again: Take an extra bag for your shopping haul. Especially practical for a city trip: a backpack with ziped compartments for additional organisation options. This way, you can safely store your valuables, like your phone and wallet.
   
• Cycling:  For a bike tour, we recommend a lightweight backpack made of waterproof materials such as nylon or polyester. Choose the backpack Size depending on the length of the bike tour. If you need extra provisions, drinks, or even a change of clothes, we recommend a backpack with a 20-liter volume. For shorter tours, a smaller backpack of 10 to 15 liters is sufficient. In this, besides your valuables, there is still room for a light rain jacket and a water bottle.
   
• Sunday walk: Here, too, a small and lightweight backpack is recommended. Also with 10 to 15 liters, for the most important items.
   
• Hiking: Is a longer hiking tour on your holiday to-do list? It’s best to go for a sturdy and large backpack with a 20-liter volume. Also especially important here: waterproof materials. Besides Size and material choice, we recommend choosing a backpack with ergonomic shoulder pads and back support. This way, even on longer hiking tours, you won’t get sore shoulders.

3. Tips for the right leisure backpack

We have put together a few tips to make it easier for you to choose the right backpack:
 

• For that special touch, choose a backpack with contrasting coloured zips and buckles.
   
• For especially high water resistance, for example on a longer bike or day tour, look for concealed zips. This provides extra protection for the contents, in addition to the waterproof materials.
   
• For storing your wallet and car keys, look for ziped compartments inside. This not only makes life harder for pickpockets but also gives your items a fixed place so you can access them more quickly. 
   
• Does your backpack get frequent use? Then we recommend a timeless colour choice. This way, your new companion fits every season and every outfit. Plus, you’ll enjoy your backpack for longer.
